Keep your cap on

This article discusses different applications of technology designed to help reduce the risk of cap-rock failure in thermal heavy oil recovery. The injection of high pressure steam as part of SAGD can cause thermal expansion which can lead to cap-rock failure resulting in lost recovery and in some cases damage to surface facilities.
