Integrated decision management
This evaluation and decision making process could have application to heavy oil field development.
I found an interesting article describing a framework known as Integrated Decision Management or IDM that has a number of elements that could be applicable to developing and managing heavy oil fields where integrated and interdisciplinary teams must rely on a systematic approach to analyze and act on the many variables involved in heavy oil production. The article describes IDM as a collaborative approach that can be used at all levels of an organization with five key phases including discovery, framing, evaluation and agreement, alternative selection, and value realization. While heavy oil represents enormous potential, it also represents many risks and challenges that techniques like IDM can help teams more effectively manage.
