An interesting article published in the current SPE JPT Online describes the use of a slow-release-hydrogen retarded-hydrofluoric-acid (SRH-RHF) system in high water-cut heavy crude wells of the Niger delta brownfields.
According to the article, all of the heavy-crude wells treated with the SRH-RHF approach demonstrated an increase in PI and reduced water cut compared to conventional acid treatments. This in turn allowed for an accelerated project payout and improved economics.
