CO2 Capture Projects

A reference to the ongoing industry CO2 capture project that could have a positive impact on heavy oil recovery.

While more research is needed, there is growing evidence that CO2 injection combined with other methods like steam injection or SAGD have improved heavy oil mobility and ultimate recovery. CO2 injection however requires access to large and reliable sources of CO2. Industrial scale CO2 capture from hydrocarbon and coal fired power plants could provide this source while in turn mitigating CO2 and GHG emissions to the environment - in short a win - win for all parties.
