Complex fluid gradients while typical in gas condensate and volatile oil reservoirs, can also be present in in heavy oils reservoirs. SPE 115429 titled “Advanced Compositional Gradient Analysis” and presented at the recent SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition in Denver, Colorado, discusses a new method to account for non-linearity in pressure gradients due to varying fluid density which is directly applicable in heavy oil reservoirs.
